Four Igbo Kidnappers Neutralized in Ejigbo, Lagos – Gang Leader 'Ifeko' Escapes with Bullet Wounds
Four confirmed kidnappers from the South-East were neutralized during a failed abduction attempt in Ejigbo, Lagos, on May 24, 2026. The Lagos State Police Command identified the suspected gang leader as Ifeanyi, also known as "Ifeko," who is believed to have coordinated the operation from abroad.
According to Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai, the gang specialized in targeting wealthy businessmen. Police operatives acting on intelligence intercepted them at Jakande Estate Gate, Ejigbo. A gun battle ensued, resulting in the death of four gang members, while Ifeko escaped with bullet wounds.
Items recovered from the scene included a Toyota Sienna vehicle, an AK-47 rifle with magazines and live ammunition, an SMG rifle, and keys to stolen vehicles. An inspector sustained injuries during the operation and is receiving treatment.
Ifeko is reportedly linked to a previous kidnapping network that was disrupted in Lagos in 2024. A manhunt is ongoing for the fleeing gang leader.
