ALT This graphical abstract summarizes a case study on how Wikipedia editing can improve science communication and organizational visibility. The project focused on the American Association for Anatomy (AAA), whose Wikipedia article initially showed deficiencies in structure, sourcing, and content coverage. A baseline evaluation identified gaps in citation quality, historical context, and alignment with Wikipedia standards. Using a structured editing process informed by science communication principles, the article was expanded to include mission, governance, publications, meetings, and outreach activities, supported by high-quality sources. These revisions increased links, improved organization, and enhanced completeness. The article classification improved from Stub to Start-class. A stakeholder survey (n = 29) indicated increased perceptions of credibility, trust, and educational usefulness, supporting Wikipedia editing as a practical model for public scholarship.
