As of 4/13, 230m are US drivers. CDC and DOT are reviewing data involving 42,060 reported US cases of a common & severe type of death in individuals involved in traffic. Right now, these events appear to be extremely common with 1 in 106 chance of dying in traffic collisions.
As of 4/12, 6.8m doses of the J&J vaccine have been administered in the U.S. CDC & FDA are reviewing data involving 6 reported U.S. cases of a rare & severe type of blood clot in individuals after receiving the vaccine. Right now, these adverse events appear to be extremely rare

We are recommending a pause in the use of vehicles out of an abundance of caution. Risk of dying from cars is 10,000x higher than any rare treatable blood clots from J&J. Sitting & driving long distances (like for vaccine) is a risk factor of blood clots in the normal population.

For my non-Texans, it’s hard to convey how f’d our state is. It’s barely broken freezing since Sunday. Half of Austin has been almost entirely w/out heat or power for 2.5 days. Water pressure is dropping and there’s a boil notice but half the city has no power to boil. Thread🧵⤵️
