@MIshaqDar50 chaired a high-level meeting today to review the Auto and Auto Parts Policy, with a particular focus on accelerating Pakistan’s transition towards Electric Vehicles (EVs).
The committee was briefed on measures to promote EV adoption, strengthen domestic manufacturing, facilitate industry growth through supportive government policies, create new employment opportunities, boost exports, and contribute to Pakistan’s climate change mitigation efforts.
DPM/FM underscored the importance of developing a competitive, innovative, and sustainable automotive ecosystem that supports economic growth, enhances industrial capacity, generates skilled jobs, and advances environmental sustainability through a future-ready automotive sector.
To ensure a comprehensive and consultative approach, a subcommittee was constituted to undertake review in consultations with all stakeholder and finalize the draft policy.
The meeting was attended by the Ministers for Power, Petroleum, and Climate Change; Adviser to the Prime Minister on Industries & Production; Ministers of State for Finance and Railways; SAPM Tariq Bajwa; Secretaries of Commerce, Industries & Production, and Petroleum; the National Coordinator NCMC; senior officials from concerned ministries; and leading policy experts and economists.
