Thankful not only for #MGBookChat topics, but the small things—like when we had three Sharis at the book chat regularly, or when we needed to find out what @MrsCHeidrich was having for dinner, or checking in with @BookClubCrate to see how her son was tracking hurricanes…
OK—random #MGBookChat memory. As people were talking about different books, I would go look for them electronically with my Harris County Public Library app. I remember checking out “Sal and Gabi Break The Universe.” /1
I had no idea what I was getting into, and it turned out to be a family favorite. I don’t think I would have picked that book out, but after all the raving on a book chat, I tripped into one of many wonderful novels. /end
Not sure if we are asking questions or just reminiscing, but does anyone else remember how you came across the #MGBookChat? I’m pretty sure I came across it because of a post from Jarrett Lerner, and then I had to figure out what the MG Book Chat was. /1
I honestly don’t know how I became a regular, but I really am glad I did. So grateful to talk about great books with smart, wonderful people from across the country. This I really what the best of social media can do. /end
Hello #MGBookChat! This has been my absolute go-to for the past five years at least, and I’m not sure what I’m going to do when 8 p.m. Central time on Mondays comes around. I’m so grateful for the teachers, librarians and authors who have made this mom from Houston feel welcome.
I’m giving away 5 signed (personalized) copies of Louder Than Hunger for one person to share with students and/or colleagues. I’ll buy the copies from @thebookstall and sign them on Thursday! RT before 11:00 a.m. ET on Monday, April 1 to enter the drawing! thebookstall.com/event/loude…
A2: One of the many brilliant things in “Fighting Words” is that you know the MC knows all the curse words and can use them fluently, but there’s no actual swear words in the book. #mgbookchat
A3: I feel like MG books run on the PG side of things as far as language goes. In YA, it’s more like a PG-13 movie, which allows for a few curse words and maybe one well-placed F-bomb. With an adult book, I’m not surprised if there’s all sorts of swearing. #mgbookchat
Hello #mgbookchat—saying hi from Houston, where I’m running behind again. I’m the mom of a 17 yo and a 13 yo, but feel like I’m going to be lurking more than participating today.
