Very vivid memory of my Nan taking me to see this at a giant old art deco cinema in Harrow when I was 7. Glory days lads.
It’s the 35th anniversary of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Kevin Costner was the star, but Alan Rickman ran away with the movie. He turned the Sheriff down twice, then demanded full creative control. Once he got it, he went all-in and made a top-tier ’90s villain. Legend.

The idea that Elon Musk worked harder than every person alive and who has ever lived is a very stupid and immature fairytale. Wake up. He’s robbing us.

Call me a hater but I think living in a world where both trillionaires and global poverty coexist is a sign humanity has failed as a species
Elon Musk has become the first trillionaire in history.

We need to have a serious conversation about feeding the first trillionaire to an orca.

Tonight… is the night… of nights
Less than six hours to go. The shadows are lengthening at airfields as more than 20,000 paratroopers steel themselves to jump into the black night . Their officers are in many cases more afraid of failing to lead than they are of death.

Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas

Mixing sharp social commentary with upbeat pop hooks, The Housemartins brought “Happy Hour” to Top of the Pops in 1986 as the song became one of the band’s defining hits. Beneath its catchy chorus, “Happy Hour” took aim at workplace culture and class frustration in Thatcher era Britain.

The first writer to completely rewire my brain. Not the last, but I’d never have reached the others if it wasn’t for him.
Terry Pratchett, one of England’s funniest writers, is in danger of being lost to history, @helenlewis writes: theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0…

Down we go. Not the first time, won’t be the last time. Hope it leads to a complete root and branch change at the club, assume it won’t. Championship here we come, maybe we’ll see some actual football next season. Irons ⚒️

I got a reply from Tom Holland, which in 42 year old dad terms is as good as social media gets. I was there at RIH episode one and I’m still there lads, a real wang. All that remains is to engage Sandbrook on early 80s monetary policy and the circle will be complete
Replying to @mrrobpower
Thank you!

The Macca Rest Is History interview is pretty great. Some of the old stories but the questions are well developed and different enough that we get some new stuff too. You hid the nerves well @holland_tom
