We shouldn't be trying to remove struggle from math. We should be adding it back in--and without the performance adjective of "productive". Mathematics is not a a chore or a project. Mathematics is a lifetime devotion to beauty. We teach the skeleton of math; not the soul.

My best advice for tough conversations came from my mentor teacher, Melinda. Give "oxygen." The other person wants to feel like they have been heard and understood. Let them have that space and voice. #tlap

Unfortunately, life doesn't always go as planned. @heyheyman and I have decided to end our four year journey in the Philippines and head back to the US. We aren't sure exactly where we are going yet but we know there is a great adventure waiting for us!

I feel so helpless right now. Like hi I’m your stupid math teacher & I want to help you but I can’t really do much besides teach you math but not very well bc it’s on Zoom & everyone is really tired & really sad & I have so much love to give but I don’t know what to do with it.
