I experienced this as a child and it was amazing!
We’re reimagining the Atlanta Public Schools Planetarium!
Established in the 1950s, the APS Planetarium served as a cornerstone of learning across the district for more than half a century. Generations of students experienced hands-on science and math instruction through unforgettable field trips that sparked curiosity about the universe and beyond. Although funding challenges led to its closure in the early 2000s, its impact never faded.
Now, Atlanta Public Schools is taking an exciting step forward by bringing the planetarium back to life, reimagined as an inclusive, interactive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) education and career readiness hub. This revitalized space will not only inspire the next generation of thinkers and innovators but also equip students with the skills needed to thrive in today’s modern workforce.
Moments like this remind us that history and legacy truly matter! By honoring the past while investing in the future, APS continues to create meaningful opportunities for scholars to dream bigger, explore further, and achieve more. 🚀
