secp256k1-jdk is a modern, functional-style Java API with two implementations for Java, JDK, @graalvm, Kotlin, Scala, etc. It aims to be the standard library for secp256k1 in the greater JDK/JVM Bitcoin ecosystem. Version 0.2 is now available for early integration testing.

What's better than #nix #nixos #nixpkgs ? How about any derivation from #guix inside of Nix ! This was an idea I have had for a while. Who wants to make a MetaPkgs ? fzakaria.com/2026/06/05/the-…

Yet again @github decided that someone who appeared to be earnestly contributing to a repo was a bot or whatever and banned them, nuking not only their account but also their PRs which we might reasonably have wanted to merge! Really starting to think about moving.

Useful to have another look at this in light of the question of whether OSS has value anymore in an LLM world (answer: if a project is level 3 or beyond, certainly yes)

What does it mean to be open source? When I first got involved with open source bitcoin in 2017, I thought this was a simple question. However, it is far more nuanced that I rarely see discussed. There are at least 9 different gradations ... am I missing any?

Open Source Foundations and group-led projects are more important than ever, in times where anyone can build and publish a little tool/project/website. Collaboration and cooperation is what will give ideas continuity, now that kick off execution is so easy and fast. Do we really want one app, tool, web site, per individual, being published out there? How would we even keep track of things? How do we become aware of what exists? The exponential growth in number of projects is unsustainable. As the old saying, "if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go further, go together".

Zero surprises here. AI is an incredible tool in the hands of experienced engineers with domain knowledge sufficient to drive the AI to do the right thing. For this you need a clear understanding of application architecture from end to end.
Amazon is holding a mandatory meeting about AI breaking its systems. The official framing is "part of normal business." The briefing note describes a trend of incidents with "high blast radius" caused by "Gen-AI assisted changes" for which "best practices and safeguards are not yet fully established." Translation to human language: we gave AI to engineers and things keep breaking? The response for now? Junior and mid-level engineers can no longer push AI-assisted code without a senior signing off. AWS spent 13 hours recovering after its own AI coding tool, asked to make some changes, decided instead to delete and recreate the environment (the software equivalent of fixing a leaky tap by knocking down the wall). Amazon called that an "extremely limited event" (the affected tool served customers in mainland China).

I reported this phishing app weeks ago to @Apple’s legal team for trademark violation in the hope they would take swift action and remove it. The app remains on the @Appstore. @AppleSupport appears unable or unwilling to manage fraud on their platform.

People underestimate how insanely much work @glozow (and @theinstagibbs and a few others) have put into substantially restructuring the way Bitcoin Core relays transactions so that protocols like Lightning, Ark, and Spark can be radically simpler. We owe them immense gratitude.

1 year later: we now have two compatible implementations supporting 0-fee channels (eclair and LDK) and the spec is final: github.com/lightning/bolts/p… Huge thanks to @glozow and @theinstagibbs who made it possible by working on mempool policy 🙏
