I saw @ferrisbuhler81 on Chris Williamson and sadly he advocated for "saving lives" by preventing opioids from going to people who need them. That has the opposite effect, leading many to self harm or street drugs. I think he means well, but wow is he ever mislead!

I just got the saddest email from a patient. I hear these stories every day, but this one shattered me. 💔
Russ, a 61-year-old disabled roofer, was stable on pain meds for 15 years—never misused, never broke a contract. Then, his doctor forced a rapid 90-day taper for one reason: he was “opioid dependent.”
Russ begged for help, warning his doctor this would force him to the streets. The doctor’s response? "Do what you gotta do." 😳
Now, abandoned by his doctor, insurance, and healthcare system, he has nowhere to turn. No one cares.
💬 His words: “Is it so wrong to want to be alright?”
🔥 RT if you’re outraged. This is not okay.

I usually don't delve into this stuff, but can't keep quiet anymore. I may lose followers but some things are bigger than that and just need to be said... Go Lions!
What if we stripped a disabled population of due process, required surrendering additional rights to receive medical care, and publicly stigmatized them, the whole time while the public cheered?
Turns out we already do this. We need change for chronic pain patients!
For anyone who thinks police abuse only looks like Rodney King, check out American Nightmare on Netflix. The police are not your friend; their job is to arrest people for crimes and sometimes they don't even care if it's the right person.
FDA pays millions to a "study" for a predetermined outcome that opioids don't work for pain. The govt is decidedly anti-science on opioids.

I have a medical condition that has an effective treatment. I can afford that treatment. Without treatment my quality of life is poor. The government has decided that I should not be able to legally avail myself of that treatment. #CPP
We may as well face it, needing opioids, whether it's because one is dependent on them or in chronic pain, is a crime that is punishable by death here in the U.S. There is not even a system to adjudicate, we just go straight to the punishment.
Policymakers’ fear of opioids has pressured hospitals, doctors and dentists to switch to acetaminophen, no matter how severe the patient's pain. usatoday.com/story/opinion/2…
