My cartoon for this week’s @GuardianBooks

The caption explains “when the quantity of unread books reaches a specific weight, the mechanism restricts the reader’s ability to add to their stockpile until the backlog has been reduced.” The “restriction” is achieved by placing a cloche over the reader’s credit card, library card and bookshop loyalty card, and smashing their internet router with a mallet.

2 Preps came to chat w me at lunchtime today and when our conversation finished one of them very politely said: “Well Maxine, we really must be on our way. We’ll say our goodbyes” and they walked out linking arms as if they were going for a stroll by the river in the 1920’s.🤣🪦
