🚨 THE IMPACT OF SPROUT'S COPYRIGHT SITUATION ON BRAWL STARS 🚨
After everything that has happened with Sprout, many of you have probably started noticing that several other Brawler designs also appear to take inspiration from existing characters or franchises.
For example, Colonel Ruffs bears a striking resemblance to General Pepper from the Star Fox series, while Melodie shares several similarities with Manon from Street Fighter. (see the images for both in the comments)
Whether those similarities are enough to create legal issues is a completely different question. However, after Supercell's reported dispute involving Sprout's design, the company may now be under much closer scrutiny. Other rights holders could see this situation and start taking a closer look at Brawl Stars' character designs as well.
The examples mentioned above are probably extreme cases, but they show why this situation could have broader consequences for Supercell.
It's also possible that, after everything that's happened, Supercell becomes much more protective when it comes to its own IP and much more careful about future character designs. If that's the case, we could even see more redesigns later this year if the company decides to minimize any potential legal risks.
Overall, it's disappointing to see how complicated copyright law can become when it comes to character design, especially when a design has already become iconic to millions of players.
