If you’re interested in the the reasons for being ex-X, they’re in a ‘librarian social media’ blogpost here: ned-potter.com/blog/nomadic-…
I’m sad to be going as my Twitter network has been hugely valuable to me. You excellent lot. 😭
Bluesky is where I’ll be: bsky.app/profile/nedpotter.b…
Tomorrow is my last day of work before Christmas; traditionally that’s when I take Twitter off my phone for the holidays.
The difference is, this time I’m not going to put it back on again!
I wanted to say thanks to everyone I’ve interacted on here over the last 13 years… ❤️

Library people of X! Can you do me one last favour?
I'm seeking input on what people need from a book on #library marketing, if I were to write another...
There's a brief form here: forms.gle/GHenpef6RLXEZEGB7
If you can fill it in / RT I'd appreciate it massively. Thank you.
ALT I’d like your input on a (possible) marketing book. I wrote The Library Marketing Toolkit around 13 years ago and publishers have asked a few times for a follow up.
I’ve always said no, partly because if DID write another book about marketing I’d want it to be much more affordable, and available Open Access.
I’m now seriously thinking about taking the leap and writing a library marketing volume, OA and self-published, and would love to know what people in the library world want and need from this sort of book.
If you can fill in a very short 5-question form, it would help me out a lot. Thank you!

(Trying to find a way to post about Twitter / X without getting massively reduced views for the tweet due to hitting words the algorithm doesn't like... But the article is about where GLAM orgs should be setting up shop on social media, moving forward.)
Hey it’s #MyXAnniversary
Good to reach 14 years but I won’t be doing 15. Can’t hack it anymore, feels wrong to be here…
I owe so much to my twitter network, it’s been invaluable. Thanks all.
Just a few posts left and then at Christmas I’m ouuuut.
Nomadic social media for librarians: ned-potter.com/blog/nomadic-…
(Because I used the name of a rival platform when tweeting about this earlier, the algorithm suppressed the tweet so it got almost no views - great times 🫤)

I wrote a thing for Times Higher Ed about University social media in the post-Twitter world, and how important Instagram is becoming (and how to use it well) ⬇️⬇️
Instagram is the most effective social media channel to engage students, argues Ned Potter @UniOfYork. In this #THECampus resource, he outlines ways to produce successful content and increase reach

User Experience is the thing I've found most exciting in libraries since I've been in the profession... it's such a big change in how decisions are made and how users are valued. Come along!
I wrote a pretty Linkediny post, over on LinkedIn, about how great it is to buy people coffee and just talk to them about their professional expertise.
I've chatted to a few lovely people about management recently and found it really helpful.

Hot take: I think most people would rather remain under an illusion of disempowerment than face the reality that when they do have power they don't care enough to use it
We have a winner of the Library Halloween Horror Trailer Remix competition!
Erin McLeod from @TFTI_UoY took our eerie 1969 ‘welcome to the library’ footage and turned into this charming trailer for Morrell V Morrell…
Hey @InfoSchoolSheff students who are coming to @UoYLibrary on Weds! I'm doing a short talk on community engagement and UX in the afternoon.
Is there anything you'd particularly like me to cover? Let me know and I'll include it... 😀
Twitter is so broken... 😢
Was really hoping to see the replies to this. But there aren't any. One RT (from me as my library).
In fact only 800 people have even seen it despite the account having 58,000 followers.
