Tweeps are just hanging out in Slack saying nice things to each other until their access is cut off. I’ve never seen anything like it. Some really incredible people leaving Twitter tonight. We are all worse off without them there

Been thinking why this is all night. We talk about Twitter as a conversation layer for the internet, but maybe more accurate is a *context* layer for the internet, providing meaning and perspective to external events. Birdwatch resonates because it speaks to this core.
I think birdwatch might be the best thing Twitter has done in years.

Already available in some parts of Australia, in partnership with local fire agencies (thank you!). If you live or regularly spend time in bushfire prone areas (shout out @kangaroo_island) immediate, accurate info is so important.
Replying to @sundarpichai
2/ Our wildfire tracking system will now identify and track wildfires in real time, helping predict how they will evolve and spread, and keeping people and firefighters informed in Search and Maps. It's one of the ways we're using AI to address the impacts of climate change.

Surprise! @volvoaus will be getting out of petrol and diesel vehicles in Australia by 2026 — four years earlier than its global target — calling it a “shrinking business”. And it only launched an electric vehicle in Australia last week. newcastleherald.com.au/story…

Mundane Halloween is back! Japan does Halloween better than anyone, but best of all is the annual "mundane Halloween" contest sponsored by website @dailyportalz. The point is to dress up as something super ordinary. Here are some of my favorites from this year...
