Interesting talks and great insights on the Brain Tumour Conference 2024! Thank you @CRUKresearch for a wonderful organization that highlighted the latest exciting research on brain tumors 🧠
🚨 Pre-print alert! In this work, we uncover the connection between brain tumor invasion and cell-state and identity three regulator genes that show promising potential to block invasive growth. Big thanks to all team members and collaborators! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Yesterday Ida defended her PhD thesis! A thorough and compelling discussion was held between her and her opponent Dr. Itay Tirosh from the Weizmann Institute of Science. Congratulations Dr. Larsson for a work well done ✨
A new paper out today by Emil Rosén and colleagues - Approximate Bayesian Computation can detect cell motion from single, still-life images of cells. This simple strategy enhances drug testing experiments aimed at targeting tumor cell invasion.
The spatial positioning of cultured glioblastoma cells is used to estimate cell motility and drug effects from single end-point images in vitro:

Great presentation from Ida at the 13th NBCNS meeting in Gothenberg! Ida talked about her useful algorithm, the Single Cell Target Translator, which can be a tool in finding candidate regulatory genes essential in brain cancer development.
We are very excited to be awarded this project grant from @KAWstiftelsen together with co-applicants @MatsNilssonLab, Kaska Koltowska, Lene Uhrbom and Rebecka Jörnsten!
