I took my camera to the final adult night at one of New York’s last indoor skating rinks, the weekend before it went out of business, to capture the joy and loss of the community that called it home. thedailybeast.com/the-last-a…

After holding it together for 48 hours, it was the "Stakes" remix that finally brought tears. That piano chord progression. It cuts straight to the uncertainty, the beauty, the wild hope. It cuts straight to my 19-year-old self.

The @freep High School Apprenticeship Program is more than 30 years old. Countless journalists got their start there as high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. The shadowed mentor reporters and their stories run in the paper.

Before working on this tool, the only New York rental assistance effort I'd heard of was rent stabilization. Here, @rondakaysen details plenty more. Discover the ones for which you might qualify. Or simply enjoy @TomiIllo's charming illustrations. nytimes.com/interactive/2022…

Stunned. Rich was not only a brilliant journalist, he was one of the very few in that newsroom circa 2005 when I got there who had a clue what I and my team did. I still have a copy somewhere of the “Meislin Memo” in which he basically mapped out the NYT’s digital figure.
