These organoids maintain organized neural stem cell niches, support ongoing neurogenesis, and generate hippocampus-specific neurons. We used the model to study prenatal glucocorticoid exposure, which reduced NSC proliferation and drove a precocious quiescent-like state.

Transcriptomic and functional analyses reveal that glucocorticoid signalling enforces NSC quiescence through autophagy-linked programs, limiting hippocampal growth. @AberdeenNeuro @kangberglab

Fascinating talk 💡by Dr. Muhammad Assir (@drzamankhan) on how IL-17A disrupts cortical development in a 3D ex vivo MIA model—triggering early folding, increased thickness & neuronal maturation. 🧠📚 #AnatSocSummer25 #AnatSocOxford

Including an interesting panel discussion on advantages and limitations of existing iPSC models @neural_lab. It appears, however, that there are many outstanding questions in the organoid field that require further discussions and consensus in the field.
A super first day at Stem Cell Models of Neurodegeneration 2025! 🎉 🧠

Check out the first pre-print from our lab. Great work by first author @drzamankhan . And thanks to all the co-authors!
🚨 New findings! 🚨Maternal inflammation doesn’t just change the cellular makeup of the developing human cortex—it extensively remodels its extracellular matrix. In our latest work, we dive deep into the effects of IL-17A, key cytokine in maternal inflammation, on developing🧠.🧵
