And to be fair, sometimes the writers DO in fact forget things. It's a huge story, and at times very over-ambitious. But claims that characters like, say, Columbina aren't "meant" to be hypocrites when she's a direct parallel to Tholindis in the very same story? Come on guys

Everyone is always caught between "Genshin writers are the greatest ever" and "Genshin writers are the worst ever" and frankly I think we should all just accept the fact that most of the time they're just average, and overall better at worldbuilding. And that's okay
