I once believed that choosing a career in psychotherapy based solely on the effort I invested in becoming a functioning human being was flawed reasoning and a poor foundation. But now, I wonder if training myself to be my own parent, teacher, guide, therapist, general, savior - driven by need and necessity, but also desire, wanting to know more about myself and consequently the world - and wanting to share what I've learned with others, to not have that remain something only for me, is not bad reasoning at all. I am somewhat an expert on my own peculiarities and my own path to becoming myself, and I am sure that will be of use to at least some. Ones that have followed paths such as my mine, and share my vision and desires.

doom is a valley through which one has to pass to reach awareness. "it is when man stands at the middle of his course between animal and Superman and celebrates his journey to the evening as his highest hope: for it is the journey to a new morning."

There's wisdom there, but I think it's actually often *not* the human condition. It's "the natural human experience given the circumstance", but the circumstances...oh man, the circumstances.

I didn't talk to some women because I felt some of the pressure subconsciously and, for the most part, refused to participate in the competition out of, I guess it could be called pride. Like refusing to get into the monkey fight for someone's attention.
so how much sexual tension did you feel at treeweek?

But I got entangled oppositonally in the dynamic and didn't act in a way consistent with myself and that's best for me and the group.

one thing to be pointed out is that EVERYONE believes in violence. What makes political ideologies different from each other is against who that violence is justified. The liberals & conservatives claiming that "violence has no place in our society" are either stupid or lying.

Everything that's alive changes. You can always find yourself again if you're lost. You can find yourself much more easily if you have lived, and not nailed yourself to a dogma.

It's easy to think you can be rationally good without God but you're gonna get tired and evil is pernicious and rust never sleeps and someday you'll find yourself in a totally unrecognizable state because you didn't grab on to something actually solid

You're projecting your own beliefs onto history. It's a nice sentiment, but without our capacity for violence we'd still be lion food. This world, this civilization, where you can express these opinions in the safety of your home, without worry of starving or predation is a product of violence. It's not a question of if or not we should employ violence. We always are collectively, every day. Against nature and against each other. The question is to what degree should we employ it and when. Sticking your head in the sand does nothing to help us resolve this question in a way that's fruitful to human, and maybe even non-human, flourishing.
