4๏ธโฃTesla only succeeded because of government subsidies.
Reality: Tesla received a $465 million DOE loan in 2010, which it repaid in full by 2013 (nine years early, with interest). GM and Chrysler received $80 billion in bailouts during the same period.
EV tax credits apply to all automakers, not just Tesla. Ford, GM, and others benefit equally. Tesla customers received these credits, but so did buyers of the Chevy Bolt and Nissan Leaf.
Tesla became profitable in 2020 and has posted consistent profits since. Its success is driven by vehicle sales and manufacturing efficiency, not subsidies.
You can argue about whether EV subsidies are good policy, but singling out Tesla is misleading. The entire auto industry receives government support.
