This headline and article are what happen when, we donโ€™t hold journalists to a basic level of understanding of prob. and stats. We can debate all we want about how we want to handle child education, but this evidence supports the selection mechanism (be it correlated or causal).
Gifted and Talented, or G&T, programs have long been a perennial subject of debate, particularly in New York City, where it has bedeviled mayors for years. Some parents have already washed their hands of the whole G&T business, refusing to participate in what they view as a corrupt system of segregation. But countless others still place significant stock in the G&T designation and what it offers and are comfortable relying on cognitive testing, should it be required, to determine whether a child qualifies. โ€œWhen your intelligence is the foundation of your self-perception, failing to achieve feels like soul death,โ€ writes Katie Arnold-Ratliff. But if the limited amount of information we have about gifted kids long-term is any indication, most lead, at best, ordinary lives of modest accomplishment. A 35-year study of 677 gifted children found that by age 50, only 12.3 percent had reached a level of โ€œeminence,โ€ defined as โ€œfull professors โ€ฆ Fortune 500 executives โ€ฆ judges and lawyers, leaders in biomedicine, award-winning journalists and writers.โ€ This means 88 percent never did. Arnold-Ratliff digs into the myth of the gifted child, and how our notions of intelligence may be inherently flawed: nymag.visitlink.me/9mc2Wh
Community note
The study defines eminence as accomplishing "something rare" like becoming full professors at research universities or Fortune 500 executives; 12.3% of gifted participants achieved it, far exceeding general population rates. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC64โ€ฆ

Federal government orders Anthropic to treat everyone in the world like they are a biologist. (No Fable access allowed.)
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Because you can easily see how DNA repair as a response to evolutionary pressure. Also, we see that it's not universal; different systems exist in different organisms and not everything with DNA has DNA repair... not how one imagines such a system would be "designed".
How your body repairs DNA. How can anyone see this and think it wasn't designed? This is God's Creation.

The actual removal of a letter (the 'P'. It's unclear who the original photographer is but I came across this from Colette Delawalla's post over on the other site. How silly and cowardly it is to put up a tarp behind which to remove the name...

BREAKING: Court rules they must construct a massive scaffold in front of Trumpโ€™s name at the Kennedy center, and then stand there for hours!

They're just standing on the scaffolding in front of the building. When are the going to do the removal?

No, we're not stopping dev & maintenance; far from it! Salmon 2.0 is coming (it's basically done & will hit soon) It's a Rust-native rewrite! Version 2.0 will be the backbone for future dev. It already outperforms 1.12, drops some old features & adds new ones! Stay tuned! 2/2

They should impeach you for attempting to interfere in this way. The man should have been removed from office and his impeachments must stand.
I will be putting forward a resolution to void the fraudulent impeachment of President Trump during his first term in office. Russia collusion never happened. This has been proven by evidence released by ODNI Gabbard. It was a terrible lie that tore this country apart, and was plotted by a weaponized intelligence agency under Obama. There is no monetary value that can be assigned to the damage this lie caused. It destroyed familiesโ€™ relationships with one another, our countryโ€™s comradery, and our relationship with another nuclear super power (Russia) that could have resulted in war. Thank goodness the admin has started to restore that relationship, but HISTORY should reflect what actually transpired.

Young Earth Creationism is very akin to flat Eartherism. Both are manifestly silly, and tremendously at odds with all of the evidence we have, from manifold different sources.
Well, thatโ€™s a new one! Over the years, Iโ€™ve heard atheists claim over and over that young-earth creationists are โ€œscience deniersโ€ who believe in a flat earth. And I recently heard this kind of claim againโ€”but this time it wasnโ€™t from an atheist. The claim was from the well-known Christian theologian and apologist William Lane Craig, who denies a literal Genesis, instead believing in evolution and millions of years. Yes, he really compared believing what the Bible clearly teaches about Genesis to believing in a flat earth (something the Bible doesnโ€™t teach and that denies observational science). But William Lane Craig has a problemโ€”he doesnโ€™t really understand science! And he refuses to take God at his Word in Genesis. Sadly, William Lane Craig has been impacted by the religion of naturalism (which is atheism), and heโ€™s added that into the Bible. Itโ€™s compromise on the truth of Scripture, and this compromise has major problems (such as putting death and suffering before manโ€™s sinโ€”a direct contradiction of Scripture). Instead of trusting the words of men who donโ€™t know everything, werenโ€™t there, and often make mistakes, we must start with the Word of the God who knows everything, who has always been there, and who has never made a mistake. William Lane Craig needs to do that!

Atheism is like a cancer that rots your brain of all open-mindedness, empathy, and objective reasoning. It is one of the most close-minded belief systems there is. Oops...

Itโ€™s truly twisted and reprehensible (not to mention manifestly false) to assert that people donโ€™t understand their own suffering. Just gross (and facile).
Atheists, God took on all our suffering and sin upon Himself. He died to redeem us from it. He knows our suffering better then we do. You can't claim to care about suffering, while denying the only One who will end it forever. The only One who can and will save us from it.

Dude, no. A book written by a bunch of people and curated by a bunch of other people isn't "proof" of a supernatural deity.
People are quick to point out my logical fallacy. But is it a logical fallacy? The burden of proof is on God. And He proved it! He created something and wrote us a book to tell us He created it. Not only that, He became a human to tell us about Himself.

Trump's every action, every utterance, every thought, is anathema to the greatness of America & to everything for which our founders, and every great leader in our history fought. He is a disgrace not only to the office, but to our very country; a permanent stain on our history.
We loathed Obama like you loathed Trump. Except we loathed Obama because he loathed America. You loathe Trump because you loathe America.

Since weโ€™re not allowed to do any biomedical work with Fable 5, I decided instead to make one-shot Flappy Bird. It's amazing & given our overlords allow making games with Fable 5, so I'll just keep making many more. Who cares about curing disease anyway?๐Ÿ˜„fable-flappy.vercel.app/

Proteins don't need to be "designed", and they also don't fold randomly. Also, given that we observe many different protein isoforms, we know that they can perform their functions even with quite different sequence.
