When I was in college, I had made several entries about myself in wikipedia about how i was famous in some field without ever listing an accomplishment. I had forgotten about all of it. Years later when people started to find out I was famous, it took a while to get it all taken down. Sites were cross referencing each other. I was mentioned in several articles related to the topic.
