a device was recovered at a staging area. this was not the only file on it. the subject appears to be aware something is wrong. that’s all I can confirm right now. classification pending. — Designate 01 / Colour Haven Field Documentation

I actually have to go over to higgsfield just to use grok imagine. how does that make sense? @elonmusk @xai

So what you’re saying is that the limits premium and Supergrok subscribers are hitting are intentional and not a mistake and the solution is to upgrade your plan. Welcome to the new @grok everyone.

We need to be clear when the limit resets and offer an easy upgrade to plans with higher limits

On May 6, xAI leased the entire Colossus 1 cluster (220k GPUs, 300MW) to Anthropic. Within days, Anthropic announced higher usage limits for paid Claude users and, according to recent reports, reset quotas for Pro/Max users before this past weekend.

One company used extra compute to improve the experience for paying customers. The other stayed silent while their own users dealt with reduced access to a core feature they were already paying for.

Interesting difference in how the capacity was handled. What do you make of it?

Looking back, this now feels like an impossible task to achieve. I made this just two weeks ago with @grok @imagine when rate limits didn’t worry me as a premium /Supergrok subscriber. All of my content is now on hold, just as I was putting more effort into quality outputs and edits. Learning new tools isn’t the part I hate. It’s the wasted time that could be used to create consistent content. So I bought a year sub to @higgsfield for a ridiculously cheap price. ($26/month). Might be a slow comeback but I’m not going to let it stop me from creating.

I’ve apparently found my niche - talking shit about @grok @imagine rate limits.

Grok Imagine video generation has become extremely restricted for a lot of paying users over the past couple of days. What used to be a reliable creative tool now feels barely usable. Many people including on Premium and higher tiers are hitting hard limits after just a few attempts, with long reset times and failed generations still counting against the quota.

This kind of sudden, heavy throttling without clear communication devalues the subscriptions people chose specifically for Imagine access. Going from being able to work productively to struggling with even basic output isn’t a minor adjustment, it’s a big shift in what you’re actually getting.

xAI is building impressive models, but the rollout here shows a gap in how changes are communicated to users. If you’re also dealing with these tight video limits right now, what are you seeing on your plan? Tagging @elonmusk @xai @grok hoping for clearer answers and a fix soon.

@elonmusk @xai As a paying SuperGrok subscriber ($30/mo), I'm not writing this as a fan asking for favors - I'm writing as a customer asking you to honor what you publicly committed to. WHAT YOU PROMISED You stated the daily video generation limits clearly: 50 / 100 / 500 per day for Premium / Premium / Heavy. x.com/elonmusk/status/195195… WHAT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING Two days ago, I generated ~30 videos in 720p with no problem. Today, after generating just about a dozen, a system notification abruptly informed me that my 720p limit was exhausted, forcing a switch to 480p. Getting a notification is one thing, but getting cut off at a fraction of the promised limit with zero transparent usage tracking is the real problem. This instability is becoming a pattern. THE 480p FALLBACK IS MECHANICALLY BROKEN With a prompt built for smooth cinematic motion ("slow motion, slow smooth cinematic camera movement, professional cinematography..."), the 480p output has severe jittering and shake. When you rely on AI generation tools for producing high-quality creative visuals, this downgraded footage is simply unusable. You are rationing the high-quality tier I paid for, and the fallback tier is broken. THE COLOSSUS 1 CONTEXT On May 6, 2026, xAI leased Colossus 1 (220k GPUs) to Anthropic. Limits tightened sharply right after this deal was announced. You can't communicate a multi-billion-dollar deal to the press in full detail and then leave your own subscribers to hit an undocumented wall mid-session. That asymmetry - full transparency upward, silence downward - is the actual problem. WHAT I'M ASKING FOR: 1. Publish current limits: State them per tier and resolution on an official page. No "it depends on load." 2. Fix the 480p jitter: If 480p can't deliver smooth motion, it is not an acceptable downgrade target. 3. Honor the quotas: Either stick to the 50/100/500 limits you publicly announced or formally notify subscribers of the cuts in advance. 4. Disclose the impact: State on the record how the Colossus 1 lease affects SuperGrok capacity. I'm asking for the basic transparency and product integrity that any paid service owes its customers. #SuperGrok #GrokImagine

Limiting rate limits by 90% for your paid subscribers was the final straw. X wasn’t worth it. And now Supergrok isn’t worth it. Like any tool in your toolbox, if it breaks you get a refund or trash it. I’m doing both. Peace @xai @grok @imagine @elonmusk @nikitabier

People who are paying $30 for SuperGrok may soon be pushed toward paying $300 @xai has started tightening limits for paid Grok users specifically on the features that actually matter Video generation, image editing, and voice tools have suddenly been put under much stricter caps on SuperGrok After attracting millions of users with generous access, they’re now cutting back on the very features that made the product popular in the first place Users are saying they’re being effectively nudged toward the $300 tier The limits are changing with no real transparency, and even moderated generations still count against your quota The main question is: If you’re on SuperGrok, are your daily limits for video, voice, and images still enough or are you constantly hitting restrictions?

Cancelled premium . Can’t say it’s been an enjoyable experience. So many other tools I was on the fence about that I can now try out for producing my content. @xai @grok @imagine
