Made a classic indie hacker mistake today: misconfigured our new annual plan on Google Play to bill monthly, and our very first paid user subscribed to it. 🤦♂️
Instead of a boring refund, I cancelled their Play subscription & gifted them a Lifetime Premium membership instead. Turning billing bugs into customer love! 🎁
Right after that, another of my app Apple Login broke due to an expired client secret. Wrote a quick local Node.js script to regenerate the JWT, updated Supabase, and we are back online!
Today's lessons:
1. Double check billing periods before launching.
2. Set a calendar reminder for Apple secret rotations (6 months fly by!).
3. Pamper your first users at all costs.
What’s the most embarrassing billing mistake or craziest production hotfix you’ve had to do? What's your indie dev story? Let's hear them!

Many people say it’s really hard to make money on the Play Store these days… and honestly, they’re right 😂I struggled a lot at the beginning. Almost no downloads. But after focusing on proper localization and better ASO, things slowly started moving.
Now I’m getting a few sales here and there. It’s not life-changing yet, but it’s progress.
Here’s a quick screenshot of my current stats 📷If you’re also grinding on Android, drop “ME TOO” below. Would love to hear what’s working (or not working) for you.

I didn’t even need to watch WWDC to know what Apple was announcing. Months ago they already confirmed the partnership with Google for the next generation of Siri, along with ongoing improvements to Apple Intelligence. The big local/on-device model that powers Apple Intelligence on the new macOS (and is now available to apps) wasn’t a surprise either. It just feels like some people are reacting as if all of this is completely new, when a lot of it was already out there.
Even the lack of support for the Mainland China market wasn’t a surprise. Why is that still treated as a big shock by some people?
Just an observation.
Still I am not getting a new iPhone.
