#Mauritius: Anjalay Coopen was shot by the police #OTD in 1943. She was among the Belle-Vue-Harel Sugar Estate's workers who went on strike, requesting better pay & #work conditions. The other victims of the shooting were Kistnasamy Mooneesamy, Moonsamy Moonien & Marday Panapen.

100 whales huddled in a heart-shaped formation in Aussie waters yesterday.
Then they beached themselves.
Volunteers rushed to help. But most whales have died. Others may have to be euthanised.

Why has this happened?
"Whales may also become stranded due to an external stress. For example, whales use sound to communicate, navigate and search for food. Loud man-made underwater noises can disrupt this system."

Humans were drawing in the sand 140,000 years ago 😍
Our connection to oceans, seas and sand has always been a fundamental part of who we are as a species.
I think that's so cool.

For lunch in Norway, it is considered antisocial to produce something that is more pleasurable than that of your colleagues.
So, every worker from sweeper to exec unwraps a package containing two sandwiches and one fruit.
Fillings: cheese, ham, salami, liver paste or jam.

These lunches originated in a system of free school meals launched in 1932.
It was supplied free – incl bread, cheese, milk, half an orange, half an apple.
This simple meal was a universal provision. Rich kids couldn’t get a better breakfast, poor kids wouldn’t have a worse one
