Anthony Bourdain wrote about this. This was his pitch for Parts Unknown. Trust me, read the whole thing.
So far this World Cup has been a great reminder that we make too many assumptions about one another, and that the vast majority of humanity is awesome. It's been pretty damn refreshing, honestly.

Europeans experiencing random Americana as they come visit for the World Cup is a lot of fun, and a good way to get Americans to not take for granted what’s awesome about our country. slowboring.com/p/a-german-so…

Oh, I don’t care what Jerry in particular cares about anything anymore.

JERRY SEINFELD: "One of the greatest moments in New York sports history just happened." TIMOTHƉE CHALAMET: "I pray to the temple of OG Anunoby!" Hear from Jerry, Timmy, Ben Stiller, A$AP Rocky and Spike Lee after they witnessed the largest comeback in NBA Finals history šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

Jerry Seinfeld *is* Kenny Banya. That’s the whole problem.

There is a Seinfeld episode about how Banya keeps going on after Jerry and the crowds are in a good mood so they get a false lift. No, that’s Jerry. Larry wrote all the real shit.

My grandfather, when he was in grad school, once got invited by somebody to come meet Einstein. He said he couldn’t because he had some exam. Blow off the damn exam. Don’t confuse immediate requirements for these kinds of things. My grandmother was wistful about it all her life.

I mean, to go to Einstein’s house in Princeton with some friend of his? This was not some work meeting. Not a reproducible thing.

I was bartending at a neighborhood spot in the East Village the night Michael Jackson died and all the bars opened their doors and switched to his music all night and it turned into a huge block party. Never saw anything quite like that. But *this*, last night was special.
Massive crowd on the Upper West Side starts chanting ā€œUPSā€ simply because a UPS truck pulls up #GoKnicks

Beautiful neighborhood then, Alphabet City. There was a big weeping willow in the community garden across the street we used to love and filled the window of the place and we used to sit on the stoop outside late and just play music. I don’t follow basketball but I root for NYC.

Outsiders think it is just skyscrapers, but it is a magical place full of radiant suggestion. You just have to find your own way to see your version of the city spirit. That involves finding your own pockets of it normally. It is rare the whole thing activates at once. Go Knicks.
