In Lira City , I emphasised that peace is the NRMโs first and most important contribution. Peace is the foundation of everything, and no one should dare disturb Ugandaโs peace. Because of peace, development followed. The Chinese offered to build Namboole Stadium in 1968, but there was no peace then. Under NRM, Namboole was built, Akii Bua Stadium is under construction in Lira, and major projects like Karuma Hydropower and oil development became possible.
I cautioned the people of Lango, Teso and Acholi to stop destroying swamps. These wetlands are a goldmine for irrigation and fish farming, which can deliver high yields on small land. Fish farming can be done at the edges while water supports crops on dry land, as seen in Limoto. This is part of our wealth creation message, alongside the four acre model and programmes like PDM, because jobs and prosperity come from production, not slogans.
