In Lira City , I emphasised that peace is the NRMโ€™s first and most important contribution. Peace is the foundation of everything, and no one should dare disturb Ugandaโ€™s peace. Because of peace, development followed. The Chinese offered to build Namboole Stadium in 1968, but there was no peace then. Under NRM, Namboole was built, Akii Bua Stadium is under construction in Lira, and major projects like Karuma Hydropower and oil development became possible. I cautioned the people of Lango, Teso and Acholi to stop destroying swamps. These wetlands are a goldmine for irrigation and fish farming, which can deliver high yields on small land. Fish farming can be done at the edges while water supports crops on dry land, as seen in Limoto. This is part of our wealth creation message, alongside the four acre model and programmes like PDM, because jobs and prosperity come from production, not slogans.

Today, together with the NRM leadership, I returned to Lango Sub-region where I held my first rally in Kole District. I explained that my earlier absence here was due to Cabinet engagements to shift cattle restocking to a PDM-based approach, which has now been agreed upon and funded. I reminded the people of Lango that they are sitting on a goldmine and should therefore embrace proper use of wetlands through fish farming and irrigation to create wealth. I also received the district Chairpersonโ€™s memorandum and reaffirmed my commitment to address the pledges, while calling on the people to support the NRM to preserve and build on our achievements. Maama and I campaigned in Nansana, Wakiso District today. When we were in the bush, the Kampalaโ€“Gulu road was already tarmacked, yet most people along it lived in grass-thatched or mud houses. Even iron-sheet roofs often stood on mud walls. Development existed, but household wealth did not. That history is why NRM emphasises income, wealth and jobs. Our first priority is commercial agriculture, done correctly. Small land needs intensive production, while large land suits extensive farming. Enterprise choice matters. Wakiso also benefits greatly from artisans, workshops and industries, which create jobs and wealth. I thank the people of Nansana who stood in the rain to listen to this message.
