Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, in his tributes, said he was saddened to learn the passing Director Bharathiraja. In a post on X, the Chief Minister said Bharathiraja carved a unique place in Tamil cinema for himself by directing several successful films rooted in rural life. He left an indelible mark on Tamil film industry, Mr. Vijay said recollecting the National and State honours he received including Padma Shri. He said the demise of Bharathiraja is an irreparable loss to Tamil film industry. As a mark of respect and tribute to the departed director, the Tamil Nadu government will accord State honours to his funeral, the Chief Minister added. @THChennai
