A community-driven approach to intelligent horizon scanning and evaluation of novel disruptive technologies for implementation in biomedical research @NCL_IMA
Great work by @NewcastleFCCF showing how multiplexed analysis of tissue (by IMC) in this case, needs some proper checks and balances. #singlecellanalysis
Really looking forward to next weeks @NCL_IMA@nu_scan seminar from the wonderful people @Deepcell_Inc Come and hear all about how label-free cell classification and sorting can be achieved from a bright-field image and #AI
So good to be able to announce this officially. Thanks to @nubiosciences @jorisveltman and @crawcrookman for the support. This is indeed a significant first for UK #technicians and I hope will break the glass ceiling for technical roles in the UK.
In exciting news, we are pleased to share Prof Andy Filby has been recently appointed as a Professor of Practice at @UniofNewcastle. He currently works in a technical specialist role and is transitioning into a professional academic role.

Are you looking to have a say in the UK's new Institute for Technical Skills and Strategy? We are looking for fresh voices, new perspectives and a willingness to shape the national landscape for technicians.

In conclusion, OPTIMAL is not a new analysis pipeline per se for IMC or any other multi-plexed tissue imaging data, but it does provide a simple framework for assessing any approach. As we convert segmentation data to .FCS file format, it also makes onward analysis accessible.
We also looked at data transformation using different arcsinh cofactor values and used the Fisher Discrimination Ratio, also know as Linear Discriminate Analysis, to determine a value of 1 gave the best statistical separation between low and high parameter values.
After the first very successful @nu_scan campagin to evaluate and now secure the @miltenyibiotec MACSima system....what is next on the horizon! Watch this space.......
Great trip to San Jose to attend the @DeepCell_Inc scientific summit. Heading back to @UniofNewcastle and @NCL_IMA and @nu_scan with a head full of ideas about how we can use their cool tech to address novel questions and revist old #flowcytometry#morphometrics
Great first @NCL_IMA@nu_scan seminar yesterday from @nanostringtech discussing their spatial analysis platforms, including the new COSMX #multiomics system. Such an exciting time to be involved in #horizonscanning for new technologies in the biomedical space!
