Where once a small wood of tabebuia pallida stood ,there is now a large deep trench. As you circle the #kbrpark,old majestic copper pods,rain trees & Bismarck palms still stand with plumeria & Arjun but their days look numbered, hope they don't remain just a dot on the map.

Following the Supreme Court’s May 18, 2026 stay order halting further tree felling in the Eco-Sensitive Zone of KBR National Park, 15 citizen volunteers took it upon themselves to document every standing tree on the medians surrounding KBR.
Each tree was assigned a unique identification number. Its GPS coordinates were recorded. Its species was identified. The result is a scientifically documented tree map that is now in the public domain.
Today, citizens publicly unveiled this Geo-Tagged Tree Map at Lamakaan — a citizen-led initiative to strengthen transparency, accountability and the ongoing effort to save KBR from unscientific flyovers proposed around Hyderabad’s last green lung.
“This is about creating accountability,” said @nuts2406, who led the effort.
“While we cannot bring back the trees already felled, it is critical to scientifically document the trees that still remain. Once these trees are mapped and enumerated, monitoring and protecting them becomes far more effective.”
Naturalist @asiyakhantrees, who provided technical support, added:
“Contrary to claims that the median plantations were recent and of a single species, we found several old trees and a rich diversity of native species.”
💚 The citizen volunteers behind this effort:
Aditya Lakshmi, Akanksha, Amit, Ankita, Ashu, Jayant, Kaajal, Naveen, Padmini, Sabita, Sashank, Teja and Vardhan.
This is citizen science in action.
This is public accountability in action.
This is Hyderabad standing up for its last green lung.
And through this map, citizens are sending a clear message to the authorities @revanth_anumula @GHMCOnline @CommissionrGHMC @TelanganaCMO @moefcc @INCIndia: We will continue to resist — scientifically, peacefully and legally — any attempt to choke KBR National Park with flyovers. Hyderabad is already witnessing the consequences of ecological destruction in the form of extreme heat, urban flooding, water scarcity, worsening air quality and shrinking green cover. The city cannot afford to lose its most vital ecological buffer.
KBR is not just a park. It is Hyderabad's last green lung. Its survival is inseparable from the future of the city itself.

Hyderabad came to standstill today.
@TelanganaCMO you can solve this by building double decker flyovers, one more flyover adjacent to Durgam Cheruvu Cable bridge, one 6 lane tunnel at knowledge city and one expressway from Hitech city to ORR. We should also eliminate all buses on these roads, they take a lot of space. Chop the trees that come your way, they are useless anyway. Please float the tenders ASAP. I recommend @MEIL_Group for top notch work and quick handover.

🚧 An Eye-Washing “KBR Park Choking Flyover” Model of the @revanth_anumula Government 🚧
Govt: “Flyovers will solve Hyderabad traffic.”
Reality: Entire city gridlocked after one spell of rain. Cars piled over concrete corridors. Bottlenecks everywhere. Honking everywhere. Chaos everywhere.
And for this “solution”, Hyderabad is being asked to choke KBR National Park — the city’s last major green lung. 🌳
No cumulative EIA.
No meaningful public hearing.
Disregard for the 2021 High Court stay order.
If endless flyovers were truly the answer, why does traffic keep worsening while the city keeps heating, flooding and choking?
Hyderabad doesn’t need a future buried under concrete. It needs scientific urban planning, public transport, traffic management and protection of its ecological lifelines like KBR.

Govt: “See how much traffic Hyderabad has!”
Citizens: “What will you do about it?”
Govt: “Build more flyovers.”
Citizens: “Will that solve the problem?”
Govt: “If one flyover doesn't work, we'll build another. And another.”
Citizens: “What about better traffic management, stronger public transport, walkable streets, protecting green spaces like KBR National Park?”
Govt: “That's not development. Development means flyovers.”
Meanwhile, every monsoon Hyderabad witnesses waterlogging, flooded roads and the consequences of replacing natural systems with concrete. Yet the answer remains the same: more flyovers.
Even Hyderabad's last green lung, KBR National Park, is being asked to pay the price for this unscientific obsession. 🌳
