Where once a small wood of tabebuia pallida stood ,there is now a large deep trench. As you circle the #kbrpark, old majestic copper pods, rain trees & Bismarck palms still stand with plumeria & Arjun but their days look numbered, hope they don't remain just a dot on the map.
🌳 EVERY TREE. MAPPED. COUNTED. NAMED. 🌳 Following the Supreme Court’s May 18, 2026 stay order halting further tree felling in the Eco-Sensitive Zone of KBR National Park, 15 citizen volunteers took it upon themselves to document every standing tree on the medians surrounding KBR. Each tree was assigned a unique identification number. Its GPS coordinates were recorded. Its species was identified. The result is a scientifically documented tree map that is now in the public domain. Today, citizens publicly unveiled this Geo-Tagged Tree Map at Lamakaan — a citizen-led initiative to strengthen transparency, accountability and the ongoing effort to save KBR from unscientific flyovers proposed around Hyderabad’s last green lung. “This is about creating accountability,” said @nuts2406, who led the effort. “While we cannot bring back the trees already felled, it is critical to scientifically document the trees that still remain. Once these trees are mapped and enumerated, monitoring and protecting them becomes far more effective.” Naturalist @asiyakhantrees, who provided technical support, added: “Contrary to claims that the median plantations were recent and of a single species, we found several old trees and a rich diversity of native species.” 💚 The citizen volunteers behind this effort: Aditya Lakshmi, Akanksha, Amit, Ankita, Ashu, Jayant, Kaajal, Naveen, Padmini, Sabita, Sashank, Teja and Vardhan. This is citizen science in action. This is public accountability in action. This is Hyderabad standing up for its last green lung. And through this map, citizens are sending a clear message to the authorities @revanth_anumula @GHMCOnline @CommissionrGHMC @TelanganaCMO @moefcc @INCIndia: We will continue to resist — scientifically, peacefully and legally — any attempt to choke KBR National Park with flyovers. Hyderabad is already witnessing the consequences of ecological destruction in the form of extreme heat, urban flooding, water scarcity, worsening air quality and shrinking green cover. The city cannot afford to lose its most vital ecological buffer. KBR is not just a park. It is Hyderabad's last green lung. Its survival is inseparable from the future of the city itself. 📍 The map can be accessed by scanning the QR code at the end of the video. #SaveKBR #Hyderabad #CitizenScience #UrbanForests #NowForClimate #HyderabadRains #WelcomeToTheJungleTrailer

Every GPS reading I took, every coordinate I plotted was an exercise in hope. A hope that the tree will remain and not fall victim to this relentless machine called “development”. #saveKBR

This began with @Ilovehyderabad sharing stories about a cleaner, greener Hyderabad. It was important for the new generation to learn how quickly we can lose our natural heritage. And how important it is to maintain constant vigilance.

Hyderabad is among world's top 30 cities at risk of extreme heat (definitely not something to be proud of) ▶️Reasons cited are rapid urbanization, loss of tree cover and disappearance of water bodies. ▶️The risk is much higher than score of cities such as Bangkok and Hanoi. Source: @TOIHyderabad

Thinking out loud, the KBR flyover project might just aggregate this area more with people reaching faster to this part of the already congested city. Flyovers move congestion from one junction to another..

EVERY TREE. MAPPED. COUNTED. NAMED. 🌳 - By concerned Hyderabadis to #SaveKBR After the Supreme Court stay on tree felling around KBR National Park, citizens knew one thing clearly: what is not documented can quietly disappear. 🌳 So in peak summer, on Hyderabad’s busiest road medians, 15 ordinary citizens came together to do something extraordinary — they geotagged, mapped, counted and identified every tree surrounding KBR. Why? Because if every tree is on public record, every illegal cutting can be tracked. Because citizen science creates public accountability. Because Hyderabad’s last green lung deserves protection backed by evidence, not just emotion. Tomorrow, we publicly unveil this geotagged tree map — a powerful citizen-led effort that strengthens the fight to save KBR from unscientific flyovers. The map has 15 heroes: Adi Lakshmi · Akshita · Amit · Ankita · Ashu · Asiya · Jayant · Kaajal · Natasha · Naveen · Padmini · Sabita · Sashank · Teja · Vardhan 💚 Join us and witness what collective citizen action looks like. 📍 Lamakaan 🗓 Tomorrow | 4–5 PM “We cannot protect what we cannot measure.” #SaveKBR #Hyderabad #HyderabadRains

This so unfortunate. There needs to be a public movement demanding for cheaper, reliable, robust, comfortable & dignified public transportation system. Busses Metro MMTS Footpaths Bike Lanes Pedestrian Crossings. I’m ready to fight for it. Hyderabad can we make it happen ?

Yes. That’s the way this government does it. Put a bandaid on top of an injury, put one more band aid on top of that, and a third band aid on this if that till we run out of bandaids. It’s easy to fix the problem. But @TelanganaCMO prefers treating symptoms.
Hyderabad came to standstill today. @TelanganaCMO you can solve this by building double decker flyovers, one more flyover adjacent to Durgam Cheruvu Cable bridge, one 6 lane tunnel at knowledge city and one expressway from Hitech city to ORR. We should also eliminate all buses on these roads, they take a lot of space. Chop the trees that come your way, they are useless anyway. Please float the tenders ASAP. I recommend @MEIL_Group for top notch work and quick handover. What do you think Hyderabad? IYKYK. #HyderabadRains

🚧 An Eye-Washing “KBR Park Choking Flyover” Model of the @revanth_anumula Government 🚧 Govt: “Flyovers will solve Hyderabad traffic.” Reality: Entire city gridlocked after one spell of rain. Cars piled over concrete corridors. Bottlenecks everywhere. Honking everywhere. Chaos everywhere. And for this “solution”, Hyderabad is being asked to choke KBR National Park — the city’s last major green lung. 🌳 No cumulative EIA. No meaningful public hearing. Disregard for the 2021 High Court stay order. If endless flyovers were truly the answer, why does traffic keep worsening while the city keeps heating, flooding and choking? Hyderabad doesn’t need a future buried under concrete. It needs scientific urban planning, public transport, traffic management and protection of its ecological lifelines like KBR. #SaveKBR #Hyderabad #Monsoon #Telangana #NowForClimate @TelanganaCMO @CommissionrGHMC @GHMCOnline

This insane queue at a metro station proves that we need more investment in mass transportation. @revanth_anumula if you care about the public, spend some of the money earmarked for H-CITI to increasing TSRTC fleet size and on the MMTS & Metro.

Govt: “See how much traffic Hyderabad has!” Citizens: “What will you do about it?” Govt: “Build more flyovers.” Citizens: “Will that solve the problem?” Govt: “If one flyover doesn't work, we'll build another. And another.” Citizens: “What about better traffic management, stronger public transport, walkable streets, protecting green spaces like KBR National Park?” Govt: “That's not development. Development means flyovers.” Meanwhile, every monsoon Hyderabad witnesses waterlogging, flooded roads and the consequences of replacing natural systems with concrete. Yet the answer remains the same: more flyovers. Even Hyderabad's last green lung, KBR National Park, is being asked to pay the price for this unscientific obsession. 🌳 No cumulative EIA. No meaningful public hearing. Disregard for the 2021 High Court stay order. Flyovers are being presented as the solution to every urban problem. Citizens are asking a simple question: if they are the solution, why do the problems keep growing? #SaveKBR #Hyderabad #India #NowForClimate

Political parties have always had spokespersons who happened to be women. To say that no women came forward because they feared trolling was itself just an excuse. But this comment about shopping and make up is uncalled for. He needs to apologise to women for stereotyping us.

.@RahulGandhi “, you say #GreenOverGreed, and we agree. We don’t want Great Nicobar destroyed. But in Telangana, a massive infrastructure project is coming up in the EZ of a National Park. Why is the EZ of KBR being violated, despite a 2021 stay order by the High Court? 1/3

There is no traffic study to show H-CITI project will solve the traffic problem. The number of @tsrtc buses has gone down. There is no investment in public transport. Fix that first, before building more flyovers. Sustainable cities move people not cars, @RahulGandhi 2/3
