Programmatic harms in connected technology have two unique characteristics: (1) they are largely invisible, and (2) they are unavoidable. That's why our mission is to measure and expose them.
We’ve been looking at and sense-making of online harms since our start in 2019. In our efforts to develop a science of product safety for connected tech, we’ve observed a distinction between  technology that is “unsafe” and technology that is “weaponized”. (1/7) 🧵

Thanks for the boost @NonprofitCyber Everyone deserves to know the “ingredients” and risks of using mobile apps as intended.
📢@SafeTechLabs launched the App Microscope, a new webservice that generates mobile app safety labels: appmicroscope.org/. Safety Labels can be used by everyone to better understand risky behaviors of mobile apps. 👏 Well done to the whole ISL team for making this happen.
