Starting Dec. 31, new state laws will expand access to OVS compensation. These changes are designed to make it easier for victims and survivors to apply for financial assistance and get support after a crime. 🧵

▪️ Victims and survivors will have three years to file a claim with OVS following the crime, discovery of the crime, after a court finds a lawsuit frivolous, or the victim died because of the crime.
▪️ OVS can review claims even if no arrest was made or charges were filed.
