How much is the Marsden Fund as a proportion of total government research funding? --> Less than 5%. The rest is largely targeted at economic or other benefits already. (2023 numbers in OIAed Priorities document from MBIE)

NZAS firmly opposes the proposed change and believes that if carried out, it would greatly diminish the standing and effectiveness of the Royal Society Te Apārangi in its important duties.
