It’s always an amazing day in the @colossal lab ! Especially when legendary filmmaker and Colossal investor Peter Jackson is hanging out while carrying a replica Moa egg and talking all things de-extinction.

🤯 You’re looking at pigeon primordial germ cells (PGCs) grown in culture for the first time. These stem cells will be key to bringing back the dodo. Until now, this achievement was limited to chickens and geese, but unlocking it in pigeons opens the door to dodo de-extinction.

EXCITING!
Today we announce a new Colossal de-extinction project: the legendary moa of New Zealand. This new de-extinction initiative, coordinated by the Ngāi Tahu Research Centre, brings the return of this legendary bird closer to reality. Hope is taking flight, even if these birds can’t.
