PETROLEUM TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT FUND (PTDF) CHAIR HOSTS ADVANCED COMPUTATIONAL CATALYSIS WORKSHOP AT ABU ZARIA The PTDF Professorial Endowment Chair in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has commenced a four-day Computational Catalysis Workshop aimed at strengthening capacity in advanced computational techniques for catalysis research. Led by Professor Abdulazeez Yusuf Attah, the workshop brings together academics, researchers, and students to explore innovative computational tools that are transforming research in catalysis, chemical engineering, and energy transition studies as a commitment to advancing research and innovation in Nigeria’s energy sector. Representing the Executive Secretary, PTDF, Mrs. Rabi’ah Waziri-Adamu, General Manager, Education and Training Department, reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to driving impactful research, capacity development, and knowledge sharing through the Endowment Chair Programme. Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Professor Adamu Ahmed, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Bello Sabo, emphasized that indigenous knowledge and local expertise remain the foundation of sustainable national development and technological advancement. The workshop underscores PTDF’s sustained investment in developing the human capital and research capabilities required to drive innovation, scientific excellence, and sustainable growth within Nigeria’s energy sector.

The Emir of Lapai, His Royal Highness Alhaji Umar Bago Tafida III, on Tuesday, June 3, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), Professor Shuaibu Shehu Aliyu, at the Fund's headquarters in Abuja. Welcoming the Emir and his entourage, the Executive Secretary expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed PTDF's commitment to supporting initiatives that promote human capital development and national progress. Speaking on behalf of the Lapai Emirate Council and the people of Lapai, the Emir congratulated Professor Aliyu on his appointment as Executive Secretary of PTDF, describing it as a testament to his outstanding track record, dedication, and wealth of experience. > “Your appointment is a clear testament to your outstanding track record, dedication, and the wealth of experience you bring to the table.
