Excellent analysis and every point is considered. Tough loss. Time to respond.
In competition, or in life, you want to be accountable to what you could have done better and how it reflects on your character.
We didn’t play our brand of basketball last night. It’s not the level I want to have when discussing officiating, Dolan/Trump distractions, etc…
Now I do think these things are true
1. Officiating was bad. I think Mike Brown took his time postgame to handle it. I’ve seen this before in a series. He’s politicking the officials to help level out the calls the next game. We gotta execute or it’s not going to matter.
2. The energy in the city was off due to the president shutting down the routine. Felt like way too much for that moment, it’s not even political really. Just unnecessary motion. Old school Dolan move and it’s just my opinion. You doing the best job in life as the owner. Let Leon cook. 2 wins from the trophy. You can chill with the president at the White House, if you want that accolade so bad.
3. Bad casual fan juju. Eventually, this was going to catch up. And you can try to separate yourself from the clout chasers and those caught up in the hype, but they are part of our city. Some of the things I saw last night were beyond unnecessary and obviously, no real knick fan is concerned with getting into random brawls, moreso than wemby getting unimpeded rim runs… it’s just annoying. We gotta deal with this type of energy in the biggest moment of our fandom.
4. Home court advantage is only as important as a teams ability to execute their game plans and make counters. With that said, it does feel like Game 4 has a must win vibe to it. The Knicks gotta establish intensity, not resort to matching it. Getting down double digits in every game is not a good recipe for winning. Reminds me of the Celtics series last year. Was hoping we learned our lesson from that experience but the competition is real. We gotta be better.
All that said, losses suck and they are supposed to hurt, especially after winning 13 in a row. However, the Knicks still got a 2-1 lead with a 0-0 mentality.
Just stay locked in. Trust the journey.
Let’s go Knicks!!!!!!!
