Why lie? Actually silly me. It’s obvious why
Councils are warning England fans not to fly the St George’s Cross during the World Cup, claiming it is “unsafe” and bad for “community cohesion”. In England. During a World Cup. If you are offended by England’s flag, feel free to make your way to the nearest airport.

Yeah let's give the most financially lucrative sporting event in the world to a country that hates football AND foreigners. What's the worst that could happen??

Ahead of the World Cup, Diogo Jota’s wife, Rute Cardoso, wrote to Scotland captain Andy Robertson to thank him for keeping Diogo’s memory alive. Robertson replied that Jota will be at the forefront of his mind during the tournament. 🙏🕊️🥹

Most of these poor twats are going to be arrested. Farage will be at home drinking expensive wine, counting his money and chuckling to himself. This is the two-tier society we actually live in.

There's not a single person in Britain who doesn't agree that the death of Henry Nowak was a tragedy, and the way the police handled it was absolutely disgraceful. There's only one political party, however, who want to take that family's pain and politicise it for their own benefit.

To tell you what a scam artist Craig Holden is: I posted at about 12:30 on 21st May about Slot being sacked & then wanting Iraola. He’s then done a live video with my info. Then journalists have denied it, then he threatened to “resign” from his own channel “for being wrong”. So he’s used someone else’s info for commercial purposes and clout and made a massive drama about it. I’ve then had weird abuse from some of his fans for the past week too. It’s all very weird. He’s the king of the plastic fans who just don’t get the club at all. I’m glad none of us will have to see him at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah is lambasted for not speaking enough, then when he does, is slammed for not doing it at the time and in the manner his critics demand. He is not a performing monkey. He has given absolutely everything he could to the game - and for just shy of a decade, to Liverpool. Why is his love for the club always questioned? Why can’t he speak as a fan of Liverpool, which he is? Salah FC or Misperception FC? substack.com/home/post/p-198…

I have witnessed this club go from doubters to believers, and from believers to champions. It took hard work and I always did everything I could to help the club get there. Nothing makes me prouder than that. Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve. I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies. That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it. Winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about. All teams win games. Liverpool will always be a club that means a great deal to me and to my family. I want to see it succeed for long after I have moved on. As I’ve always said, qualifying to next season’s Champions League is the bare minimum and I will do everything I can to make that happen.

You’re right, Candace. The video is crucial, which is why I asked @TPUSA to see it. I approached them in good faith, and they agreed. It’s real, and multiple people who were in Aspen that day remember the moment. The video does matter, but it’s not the only reason the board voted to appoint Erika. I spoke to several Turning Point donors and close friends of Charlie who revealed that after Butler, there was a very real fear about his safety and the future of his organization. Charlie reassured them: He would leave Turning Point to Erika and the board to carry on the mission if the worst happened.

I don't think it's even just recency bias - it's a slow erosion of any sort of historiographical rigour to the point that people are just wanting to leverage takes after a few games of football. Conceiving of the unfolding of history as some sort of blind ranking exercise.

Not having this discourse that the Premier League’s physical and mental exertions mean conservative football has to be a given when we’ve actually experienced the opposite. The style is absolutely a choice. Manchester City and Liverpool were involved in the most exacting, no-margin-for-error title races but still played ridiculously good football. Pochettino’s Tottenham were a marvel too. The 2018-19 Champions League was one for the ages: Tottenham 4-4 Man City quarter-final The Spurs 3-3 Ajax semi CORNER TAKEN QUICKLY in the most insane comeback What about the intensity of that LFC-MCFC quarter-final in 2017-18? And Liverpool beating Roma SEVEN! - SIX! in the semis. 2021-22: Chelsea 4-5 Real Madrid, Benfica 4-6 Liverpool, City 5-6 Real Madrid The list goes on. For so long it was held against both PSG and Bayern that they wilted when it mattered in the Champions League because their domestic seasons were a walkover. They didn’t have tough games to prime them. We can’t pick and choose narratives when it suits.

I always say the same
When Jamie Carragher isn’t in his Liverpool emotions, he’s arguably the best pundit around. He sees the game well. He also communicates it quite easily. Before you argue, look at the places he works with. They’re reserved for the best. And he’s retired for a long time now, and still manages to thrive at what he’s doing. It didn’t start after his career, he’s always seen the game well even as a player. When he played, there were times he advised Liverpool coaches on the deployment of certain players. Top guy.
