Goals at the Soccer World Cup do not show that “diversity is our strength,” nor do they support the left-wing fantasy that discussions around immigrant linked crime and immigration by One Nation should be shut down in Australia. The argument is simply not logical.
The Socceroos do demonstrate that individuals from different ethnic backgrounds can work together in the shared interests of a country to achieve a unified national goal. However, the team is limited, not everyone is included by default, and they all play under one banner. Rigorous performance, talent, and attribute tests are conducted to ensure players are capable of advancing the team’s mission. Those who are not team players, who refuse to listen, or who cause disruption rarely last long, contribute to success, or even get selected. Basically, not everyone gets to be a Socceroo just because they can kick a ball.
If people want to make pointless comparisons, at least try to be consistent. Without those rigorous selection standards and the exclusion of unsuitable candidates, the team would not be as successful. In reality, it makes a strong case for the best possible limited immigration policy, one that selects people with the attributes and values that serve Australia’s overall national interests. This is far more in line with what One Nation advocates for Australia’s immigration policy that serves team Australia. The left is kicking an own goal with this pointless argument.
