Shigeru Miyamoto didn't play video games as a kid. His love of exploring forests and caves inspired Zelda. That's why Hyrule feels like a place instead of a product.
I have said this before: Movie makers raised on modern movies are shit. Same for all media Pokemon started because the creator liked collecting bugs and exploring as a kid, not just playing other video games. Inbred Media. You can't make music out of all samples forever.

Xbox wasn't created to make money. It was created to keep the PS2 from replacing the Windows PC. That battle was won years ago. Now Xbox has to pull its own weight.

Nostalgia remembers the cereal, the mall, and Pizza Hut. People who were there remember Se7en, The X-Files, Fight Club, and The Matrix. The 90s were many things. Innocent wasn't one of them.
It's rare that AI video makes me feel any emotion. But these "nostalgiamaxxing videos" really do capture what it's like to grow up in the 90's Credit: homeforchristmasofficial

Modern adventure games are terrified you'll get stuck. But getting stuck used to be part of the adventure.

Adventure games as a category have just kinda been diffused into open world RPGs and semi-linear action games.

Fable proves morality and beauty are objective by painting a portrait of relativism.
The upcoming Fable reboot is moving away from the series’ classic good-and-evil system. Players will no longer grow halos for being good or horns for being evil, as Playground Games wants morality to feel more realistic and less black-and-white. Different people and regions in Albion will react to your actions in their own ways. Your reputation won’t be fixed, allowing you to reinvent yourself as you explore new areas.

Manga is eating American comics' lunch because Japanese creators are allowed to finish their stories. No ending, no payoff.
'Berserk' Manga is Officially Coming Back TOMORROW. Koji Mori Statement: "I’m truly, deeply sorry for keeping you waiting so long." This chapter is based on an episode that Miura struggled with for twenty years—even I, having heard it recounted dozens of times, found it quite challenging We managed to pull it off by going over the dialogue countless times with Mr. Shimada, who was Miura’s editor at the time and has been a mentor to both of us for many years.

Film makers watched Halloween and concluded horror is scarier when you show less of the monster. That's not what John Carpenter taught. His real lesson was that Michael Myers could be anywhere.

RT @BrianNiemeier: What all the reporting on this story misses is XBOX was never meant to beat the PS2 head-on. Its job was to keep the PS…

There's no magic answer for "does the game contain challenging situations that players can fail to figure out?" Question. It either does or it doesn't and both of those are less than ideal answers in some regards and Mass market games have certainly tended down the no branch

The internet was supposed to be forever. Instead, we're watching it become more disposable than paper.

Social Security recipients get back what they paid in after 6 years. The rest is paid by younger workers. Maybe having fewer kids & making it harder for them to get jobs wasn't a good idea after all.
A niche pastime of mine is asking Boomers what they're going to do in ~2032 when Social Security automatically gets cut. Every single one has denied even the possibility, despite it being a current mathematical fact. Literally, every single one.

Christians are never the intended audience. Secular urbanites have made shows, movies, and games as inside jokes at Christians' expense since the 70s. That's why the hucksters bristle; you're not supposed to side with the dupes.
Still blows my mind that someone made a setting where Christianity is fighting the forces of Hell in brutal trench warfare, then threw a tantrum that it was attracting edgy Christians. That's like making a game about sexualized, anthropomorphic animals and then getting mad that Furries show up in droves. Who the fuck did you think the audience would be?

Sony saw God of War as a brand. Young men saw a monster fighting to become a father.
God of War's creator says the new 'Laufey' title is “not God of War” David Jaffe added “the originals, had their hooks, right? It was ‘Kratos is a badass,’ Greek mythology, violence, etc”

Disney made the same mistake with Star Wars that Microsoft made with Xbox. They switched to making products for everyone except the fans.
Or maybe, just maybe, Star Wars is dead because Disney produced 10 years of shit Star Wars content.

For decades, young people were told “Get a degree, work hard, and the economy will make room for you.” Now A.I. and degree inflation are decimating the entry-level jobs Zoomers were pushed into debt to qualify for. Gen Z knows they got rug-pulled.
