Worked pretty hard on this article - check it out! 🤝 Is AJ Dybantsa the best prospect in this draft class? Is he even top 2? 👀 My goal was to dig deeper - beyond surface level analysis & really think critically about what order the top prospects should go on a big board 📊
🆕🏀 New NBA Draft Content 🏀🆕 – Due Diligence on Dybantsa 👀 – @onballcreator is back with a comprehensive analysis of BYU wing AJ Dybantsa. Should AJ be the obvious choice for the Washington Wizards at pick #1? #NBADraft Check it out! ⤵️ 🔗: thecenterhub.substack.com/p/…

Light international class for the draft this year w/ these guys & Karim Lopez who already announced he's staying in the draft NIL of course is pushing many of the top international players to the college ranks

Good move Time to sink or swim He’s ready Don’t really think another year w/ Valencia will do him much good Been there, done that It helped him. It developed him Now it’s time to try & make it in the nba Should be a 1st round pick A guy w/ his positional size, ball skills, feel & to do what he has done at age 19/20 vs the competition level he has faced between EuroLeague, ACB & FIBA eurobasket literally playing against Giannis I’d be pretty surprised if he’s not a 1st rounder
NEWS: Valencia's Sergio de Larrea, a projected first round pick, is staying in the 2026 NBA Draft, a source tells DraftExpress. The 6'7 Spanish PG, 20, averages 8.9 points, 3.3 assists in 18 minutes in the ACB for Euroleague Final Four participant Valencia, shooting 39% from 3.

Good decision Not ready yet for nba He was kind of mid this season in the Adriatic league Typically you like to see guys on Mega play better than that for you to think they’re nba ready Needs to cut down on fouls, drop some lbs, keep working on his 3 ball consistency & round out his game on both ends Good long term potential though Trying to follow the Steinbach path - he was eligible for 2025 draft but wasn’t ready, was projected 2nd round after a season playing overseas pro ball But then played a season of college ball & is a projected top 20 pick Could be similar path for Suigo
NEWS: Luigi Suigo has withdrawn from the NBA Draft and committed to Villanova, Sigma Sports and Excel Sports tell DraftExpress. The 7'4, 289-pound 19-year-old will be a physical outlier in the Big East who can pass, space the floor, protect the rim, and finish effectively.

Likely a 2nd round draft & stash Don’t think I’d take him higher than that
Bookkeeping: Jack Kayil is keeping his name in the NBA Draft at the 5pm ET early-entrant withdrawal deadline, agent Milan Nikolic tells DraftExpress. Kayil and Alba Berlin are playing Bayern Munich in the German BBL Finals, which Alba trails 1-0.

Teams try to keep this stuff very hush hush They don’t want anything to leak. Don’t want to tip their hand Good quote the other day about this kind of stuff, I believe from Austin Ainge It’s a big game of poker haha
AJ worked out with the Wizards yesterday and there’s been no leaks with how the workout went? Who confirmed he worked out? I have even seen it reported. Just random tweets from fan accounts.

Poor spacing. Yaxel is a big dude pressuring the hell out of him. And as soon as he starts getting closer to the paint, bodies cave in on him Aka really tough circumstances. Many players, especially freshman would crumble under that type of pressure vs eventual national champion But I like Wagler’s poise here. How he doesn’t get rattled, didn’t get sped up, doesn’t just try & hurry up & pass it off to a teammate to defer to them so he doesn’t have to create vs the pressure He doesn’t back down. He goes right at Yaxel, goes right in to the paint, even as the bodies cave in, w/ the poor spacing And just dis his best to create a clean look. Using good positional size, good handles, change of speed, change of directions, using angles, body control and solid touch, ability to draw fouls Obviously his strength & burst & vertical pop are limitations. But he makes up for them in other ways Best team in the country clearly had him at the top of their scouting report. Again, most freshmen would have handled it worse than this if we watch bama vs Michigan, Philon was pretty good but also had more favorable spacing. And Michigan wasn’t throwing this level of pressure, extending their defense this much or throwing this many bodies at Philon if he got near the paint Michigan extended their defense way out on Wagler b/c they were terrified of his jumper. And they wanted to wear him down so they pressured him full court game. Teams weren’t scared of Philon’s jumper. Which is partly why his 3 FG% jumped this season. He had open looks.
Keaton Wagler's (few) driving possesions defended by Lendeborg & Morez Johnson. What do you notice?

Also Mara was an absolute beast this game. This was the game that really sold me on moving him up on my board (2)

Let's look at Darius Acuff's shooting numbers As we all know, he shot the ball really well this season at Arkansas. Was he always that good of a shooter, like in HS? Not really.. -He's probably improved his shooting a bit so he's better than than the 30% he shot pre-NCAA -But the pre-NCAA sample tells us he's probably not as good a shooter as he was at Arkansas -As it often works, the answer likely lies somewhere in the middle But if he's not great at getting to the rim or finishing at the rim. And his struggles on D are well documented And he's not the nuclear shooter he was for the Razorbacks, then how high do you draft him? Maybe top 10. I'm not sold on taking him in the top 10 Top 20? Absolutely Maybe somewhere 11-20 range. Maybe 8-10 range Personally I wouldn't take him higher than 9 or *maybe* 8 The passing is really good, though

Agreed I think the top 3 picks could go in any order Think that anyone who thinks otherwise (like if people think any of those 3 players is 100% locked in to a particular team/draft slot or thinks w/ absolute certainty a player is/isn't going to a particular draft slot/team in the top 3, they are probably misinformed, or pushing an agenda As Sam says, razor thin margins between those top 3 prospects
I've said it throughout the process: I don't think the top-3 in this draft class is as clear-cut as folks make it with AJ, then Peterson, then Boozer. All the teams at the top are doing a ton of due diligence on all of these players. It's a razor-thin margin between them, IMO.

Not surprised. Brown Jr is 5th on my big board Slightly ahead of Aday Mara From what I have seen (based mostly on both NCAA & pre-NCAA film but also factoring in stats, measurables, etc.) he is a notch above guards like Acuff, Philon, Flemings, etc. Not a huge gap, but a gap nonetheless
"[Mikel Brown Jr.] has now moved his name up and the momentum is on his side." @SeanFarnham joins @MJAcostaTV to discuss the latest surrounding the fifth pick in the NBA draft 👀

It would be the best duo since Steph/KD & Lebron/AD, correct?

Fairly similar numbers for Peterson & Cade during their freshman season Some folks have been overly critical of Peterson's rim pressure this season at Kansas but his numbers in those categories are pretty much right in line w/ Cade's, including a significantly higher dunks/40 mins - despite being about 1" shorter Much higher 3PA volume for Peterson gives him more upside as a shooter. Much higher Pts/40 mins on basically same efficiency give him higher ceiling as a scorer, much higher BPM as well -> more impact on winning Despite Peterson dealing w/ much more health/injury issues & being slightly younger I'd say it's close but Peterson is the better prospect 🤝

I wonder how many other people can make the same comment about him being malnourished ;) He is certainly not the first player in NBA history who was drafted at age 18/19 & grew another inch or 2 and added a bit of strength/weight afdter being drafted🤝 (4)

Ira Winderman on Boston’s pursuit of Giannis: “I think Boston is not only back in but Milwaukee right now is trying to find a third team for Jaylen Brown. It’s very real. Last week, I was preparing my Heat get Giannis story. This morning I started a file about being left at the altar yet again … these things are ever evolving.” Looks like we fell for it again … it’s been real y’all ✌️(h/t @JoeRoseShow / YT)

Draft capital is extremely valuable under the current CBA, and roster spots - including two-ways - are too scarce to risk on players who may miss a full season due to injury. In that context, it’s hard to see a team using a draft pick on Richie Saunders. The more sensible path imo is going undrafted, rehabbing, then earning a Summer League opportunity in 2027 (possibly play w/ a g league or European team late in the 26-27 season if he's ready) and trying to build toward a training camp invite and eventually a two-way contract for the 27-28 season.
