ALT People in security and computing have been saying for years - there's no cloud. There's just someone else's computer.
Right now, there's no AI. There's just someone else's work.
Stop calling generative text and image programs AI. It's inaccurate and insulting. They are just the evolution of corporate creative theft that's been going on as long as media corporations have existed.
Seeing the communities that are forming on Mastodon/fediverse, Bluesky, etc., I think we'll see a lot of fragmentation in this space in the near future, and that is not necessarily a bad thing.
Complexity kills. It sucks the life out of developers, it makes products difficult to plan, build and test, it introduces security challenges and it causes end-user and administrator frustration.
