The Scottish governmentβs new Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) bill, has just PASSED by 86-39 votes in the Scottish Parliament (in spite of media misinformation, fearmongering and filibustering). So hereβs a guide to what this means, and what will change. π§΅

It removes the need for submission of medical research. It removes the need for detailed evidence of living as your authentic self. It removes the need for a two year wait before a Gender Recognition Certificate can be issued. It introduces a statutory declaration of gender called Self ID, it introduces that 16-18 year olds can apply for a GRC, it introduces the National Records of Scotland as the people who handle the applications and the Registrar General will now do an annual report.
