Ekko Guide by REL: 3 Core Builds
Here is a breakdown of the three main Ekko builds used by REL, adapted with official League of Legends terminology.
1. The Standard Balanced Build
This is the most standard and well-rounded build path. While it provides a solid baseline for any match, it is a relatively average option with fewer specific windows to exploit, meaning it is rarely a top personal priority.
Core Items: Dusk and Dawn into Shadowflame.
Runes: Dark Harvest is the only viable primary keystone. For the secondary tree, you can either opt for Inspiration or go with Precision, taking Triumph and Legend: Haste.
2. The Anti-Squishy Burst Build
This build is highly recommended when the enemy team has 2 or 3 squishy champions. It is personally my favorite setup.
If you are looking to pick up Ekko or want to master him for the future, you should definitely get used to playing this specific build. The reasoning is simple: if Dusk and Dawn ever gets nerfed or falls out of the meta, Ekko's overall gameplay feel and power spikes will change drastically. Learning this alternative playstyle prepares you for those changes.
Core Items: Lich Bane into Hextech Rocketbelt.
Runes: The rune page is completely locked in with Dark Harvest as the primary keystone and Inspiration as the secondary tree.
3. The Anti-Tank Sustained Build
This path is ideal when facing high-HP team comps or when the enemy team has multiple tanky/bruiser champions that you cannot instantly burst down.
Core Items: Dusk and Dawn, Liandry's Torment, and Riftmaker.
Runes: You can stick with Dark Harvest for scaling damage, but Conqueror is also a great choice here to synergize with the extended, sustained fights.
Other Essential Items
Rabadon's Deathcap (Priority Item)
Regardless of which path you choose, Rabadon's Deathcap is an absolute priority. You must buy it as your 3rd or 4th item. Delaying it any further will clutter your inventory space and severely stall your damage scaling when you need it most.
