Minnesota has been traumatized by political violence this year, and we are still in the throes of our grief. The language in the House resolution honoring Charlie Kirk was deeply troubling, and I would have voted against it. The resolution wasn’t used to heal; it excused his divisive rhetoric.
I pray for Charlie Kirk’s family and am horrified by his assassination, but I will not join Congress in celebrating a legacy of dehumanizing and hateful ideas.
