.@SpencerJCox You have always stood out for me as a governor who can put solid values above party loyalties, so I’m dismayed at your endorsement of the most toxic and anti-democratic man ever to hold the presidency. Please reconsider your choice, governor.
.@kairyssdal Your chat with Jay Powell brought my biggest #inflation question into focus: How *do* we raise #wages without unleashing the anti-inflation dog pack and perpetuating wage disparity? Are we stuck with 1% wage growth?
Still keenly feeling the passing of Thich Nhat Hanh, #radical#activist. We are poorer by one shining beam of #compassion, but richer by millions he inspired. The loss I feel is a living tribute, sigh.
Word of the day is ‘flarnecking’ (19th century): vulgar flaunting and shameless ostentation.
(Also, my book ‘Word Perfect’ is launched today with a new cover and fancy red endpapers, should it take your fancy.)
A jay flew into my cave this morning, playing its song. It sounded good. And It dawned on me that I might should join the world again. Maybe even act like I’m playing along. Hello world.
.@NPRinskeep Thanks for your coverage on the #eviction crisis. I see a lot of pressure on #landlords, but who's putting pressure on the #banks? If any? I'm curious.
.@stephmurrayyyy Through #economy goggles, low fertility looks like a "problem," and I see your point. But even level #fertility looks like the world's biggest *problem* through ecological #sustainability and a gazillion similar POVs. Please do consider greener goggles.
.@1a Note: Due to the piercing sound the tiles makes when they are shuffled, there are often riders to apartment leases in Japan that prohibit playing #mahjong during late hours.
Thanks for your piece on NPR this morning, @KirkSiegler#labor "shortages" in rural areas. As a Medicaid provider, that Boise employer "can only offer around $11 an hour to start." So often low #wage issues are spun as labor shortages. Would love to see more from that POV.
There's a wonderful lesson in this story about my friend and neighbor, Paul Pilkington, The "#Rabbit" who won the L.A. #marathon in 1994. #Running. - L.A. Times ow.ly/GkD130rcP4Y
🛰 With the sun coming out we can now get a visible image of #Sally. The latest explosion of storms close to the center has produced an impressive image of gravity waves emanating in all directions. This would suggest #Sally is trying to strengthen; we shall see what Recon finds.
The US has lost 64 times more people to Covid-19 so far this year than it did in the 9/11 attacks. (@politico ) So much damage is caused by over-reaction, or under-reaction. Could it be ego?
Consider that #POTUS doesn't have to win the vote to win in November. If he fouls the election up to cast enough doubt, his sycophants will feel righteous in canceling the whole process. Remember how snafus in FL threw #bushvgore at us.
