See that bright blue line? That’s where our overlapped lasers are exciting rubidium.
Once excited, these atoms emit 420 nm light.
We typically detect this light using a sensitive PMT, but in this instance we can see it with our bare eyes!

I haven’t been great at updating twitter due to the lack of sleep, BUT: @opticalclock survived a landing that clocked in above 100g!
Very happy with that.
