🟣 Running an Orbinum validator just got easier. The official Testnet node image is now available through GitHub Container Registry. What this means: - Faster validator onboarding: spin up a node directly from the official container image. - Consistent deployments: all validators run the same tested build across the network. - Simplified upgrades: new releases can be distributed and adopted through a standard container workflow. - Better coordination: validators can stay aligned with network updates and protocol changes using versioned images. - Infrastructure-friendly: deploy on VPS, dedicated servers, Kubernetes, or any container-compatible environment. As we move closer to Testnet, we're focusing on making validator operations predictable, reproducible, and easy to maintain. 🟣 Testnet is getting closer. PR #99 just landed pallet-validator-set on Orbinum. Here's what ships: - Minimum ORB stake: validators must lock a configurable amount of ORB as collateral to join the active set. - Auto EVM key registration: becoming a validator automatically registers your EVM key as a relayer. Users never sign their private transactions directly — the validator relays them by default. More privacy, zero friction. - Sudo / governance control: the validator set is managed fully on-chain. Nothing hardcoded. pallet-sessions integration: clean key rotation between sessions, compatible with the existing runtime. - Testnet chain specs: genesis configs for dev, local, testnet, and mainnet already included. Alongside this, the Privacy Explorer will get a new view to visualize active sessions and validators in real time. Two new precompiles landed this week: - BalancesPrecompile (0x...0802): transfer tokens to any AccountId32 from an EVM tx. - AccountMappingPrecompile (0x...0800): link your EVM wallet to a Substrate account, then use it as a relayer. Once linked, a single secp256k1 keypair controls both layers. Sign a call with your EVM wallet, relay it through the precompile, and it executes on-chain as your Substrate account. The cross-chain dispatch uses EIP-191 signatures over SCALE-encoded calls. No bridges. No wrapped accounts. One keypair.
