From Punch Cards to Ordinals
In the late-1960s, Vera Molnár taught herself FORTRAN, slipped a deck of 80-column cards into an IBM mainframe, and waited (sometimes overnight) for a pen plotter to reveal what the algorithm had decided. No screen, no Ctrl-Z, just cardboard, patience, and surprise 👇
