For information: the TV production suffered a connectivity issue with their fibre optic cabling at the beginning of the women's race yesterday. 5 cameras were put out of action, including the one at the start and one of the TV split controls.
This is the reason for the less-than-optimal TV coverage of the women's race; when talking with a member of the production team, it wasn't clear if this was a technical issue or because of external damage to the cable(s).
It is far harder to set up cabling for an urban race, and ensure security and reliability, than for a forest race. So much more protection is needed, and still unforeseen situations can arise and a cable gets damaged.
Next year WOC is the forest version, in Switzerland, July 11-16 at Flims Laax, and the next Sprint WOC is in Edinburgh in 2024 - how the British team will be looking forward to that!
