Honestly I'd be lying if genAI didn't make me feel depressed for few years, for what impact this might bring to the world. Some of it did come true, such as good materials becoming near impossible to find without words of mouth. Google image is infested with this when you try to research anything now. There's of course more but that's gonna be a whole separate essay. For a while, I thought, "wow, this is going to popularize some of really bad perspective in art industry." Since it was already happening with fast consumed digital media on the rise. Some AAA games having terrible art directions, movies and anime feeling uninspired, Netflix literally aiming for "second screen viewing" experience... Rush and plagiarism out of project necessity was already a norm in the "professional" industry. AI was here to take advantage of that mentality. Cost effectiveness, minimal investment, fast as possible. That's the name of the game. After going through some deep thoughts, I've realized that what matters to me at the end of the day, are people who support me for what I do. They didn't go anywhere. I'm the one who stopped drawing. Luckily I'm an individual artist that isn't involved in that mess, at least financially. I can still do what I do and put the food on my table. Sure, the impact it brought to the entertainment and art is still very much real, but I was letting that get to me in personal level. Only thing that was slowing me down, was my fear of what's about to come which is out of my control. Couple months ago, I finally overcame that fear and came to peace with it. I started to take control of my life again. All I had to do was change my perspective. It seems that every time I care too much about what's around me rather than caring about myself, is when all my problems starts. Anyways, I don't know why you are still reading this but I wanted to say I just want to draw, and I'm going to do exactly that.
